The site

thegolo.com sets no cookies and keeps no personal data about readers. Clicks on articles are counted per article and day, with nothing about who clicked. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies.

The Golo Daily

If you subscribe, we keep your email address, the editions you chose, the optional details you gave (a first name and what you follow), and your consent record (when you subscribed and confirmed, from which page). We use them only to send the Dailies you asked for. We never sell, rent or share them, and never use them for advertising.

What we count

Clicks on the links in an issue, per link and day; and that a reader followed at least one link in an issue (never which), kept for 180 days. We don’t track opens, devices or locations.

Sending

Emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon Web Services EMEA, region eu-north-1, Stockholm), which processes your address only to deliver them and tells us about bounces and complaints.

How long

Unconfirmed signups are deleted after 7 days. When you unsubscribe, your address is deleted after 30 days; your consent record stays without it. Addresses that bounced or complained are kept only as a one-way hash so they are never emailed again. If we ever stop sending to you because you followed no link for six months and didn’t answer our “Still useful?” email, your address is deleted a year later unless you ask for the Daily again.

For AI agents (thegolo.com/mcp)

The public MCP server needs no account and keeps nothing about who uses it. To limit requests, a client is known only by a one-way hash of its network address, renewed every day and kept for a few minutes; the server counts requests per tool, day and kind of client (the app family named in its user agent), with nothing about who made them. It returns only what THE GOLO published: headlines as citations (where a source’s rights allow), credits, links and why a story was selected.

Your rights

From the link in any issue you can change your editions, pause, unsubscribe, download your data or delete it at once. To correct your address, or for anything else, write to [email protected]: a corrected address changes only once you confirm it from the new inbox. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Portugal, the CNPD).
